Make Your Own Version Of Glue Dots At Home

sticky-dotsCompanies invest a lot of time and money in product development, advertising and getting the products into your hands.  To keep companies introducing new and unique products, they need to know that they will make some money from their hard work.  With that said, I think it is important to remember that you need to support those that work hard to bring you the latest and greatest in the crafting world, but there are times when you are in a bind or it is late at night and you don’t have something that you need.  In this case, if you just used your last glue dot, you can make a version of them at home if you are lucky enough to have one of two products on hand.

There are two different brands / types of glue on the market that you can use to make your own little dots that can be re-positioned on some material and they are Aleene’s Tack-It Over & Over and Scraperfect Best Glue Ever.

The idea is pretty simple, but I will add two videos below to walk you through the process.  Simply take some paper that the dots will not stick easy to such as the paper that mailing address labels come on and place little drops of the glue on that paper.  Let the glue dry and then they are ready to use.  The two glues mentioned above will not dry hard, so the little dot of glue will remain sticky and should be covered with another piece of paper similar to what you placed the dots on to help keep the dots from sticking to everything.

If you are looking for the original glue dot, they can be found in most scrapbook supply stores or even on amazon.  If you make the dots, be sure to test them out on some items that you will use when crafting to ensure they work the way you want them to.
