Journaling can add a very personal touch to any page be it on the page itself or hidden beneath a photo or embellishment. As scrapbooks are handed down from generation to generation, the journaling can be an ever present reminder of the love and attention that went into creating the scrapbook.
Some scrapbookers are weary about using their own handwriting on their pages, but there is no need to worry and it just adds to the page. If you do not think that your handwriting deserves spotlight on one of your pages, journal on the back of photos, tags or anything that can be lifted up or turned to reveal your work.
Here are some tips to help you out if you are thinking about journaling on your pages:
- Make sure that you are using the correct pens. You should use acid free permanant pens designed for scrapbooking. The pens can be easily found at your local Scrapbook Store or online at one of the many scrapbooking shops online.
- Start small to get comfortable writing on the pages or photos. Start with something simple such as names or nicknames, dates, locations where the photos were taken or what the page is about.
- Before writing on the page or photos, be sure to practice on a piece of scrap paper about the size of the area that you want to write on. Once you feel comfortable, move to writing on the page or photo.
Whoever views the scrapbook you make is going to love how it looks, but adding your own journalig to it will add that extra specail touch that they may not have expected.
